enhancements and additions have improved import and organization of your photos Options include: watermark control, printing of grids of images as contact sheets (hmmm, just like the old days of B&W photography!) and now you can also apply sharpening that is appropriate to the paper you are using. By popular demand EX3 now includes Printing from within the app.Greater control over White Balance with precise Kelvin adjustments possible, or by using new WB presets.Greater control over Colour with a new HSL tool that allows detailed adjustments of hue, luminance and saturation of each colour.I'll wait for an answer by their support, X3 is really good, when the trial expire I'll buy it, the only things I'm missing are CA and perspective correctionįor those who haven't "found" the EX3.5 update yet, imo it is significant and includes these features: If X3 point to a "standard" folder and inside, there are more than one text file I need to have the way to choose which file X3 must use. This is the reason I need to know where X3 store and grab the file, and better, a way to point it where I want, if needed. What I want is that X3 grab the right text file that I created after I stopped to use LR. So now I know for sure that X3 like other software, (LR, PM, Aperture) import the plain text file with the keyword. Unfortunately what is imported is an outdated version because I don't use Lightroom anymore and I made some changes. Probably all but me will be happy to see this, is somenthing that all want to see, imported their vocabulary ready to use in the new software. Basically I discovered that the pictures where tagged and this is right because in the past I wrote the metadata inside the files but I also discovered in the right metadata panel that under the set I have the old structured keywords all imported as a set. Excuse me for my bad english I'll try to explain the better I can.Īfter I downloaded the trial of X3 I pointed the pictures folder to see the photos and experiment. I already read the article but don't answer my question. Thanks I'll write to the Alien Skin support, and maybe I'll report here their answer if someone is interested. ![]() It is a few years old but it does provide some good instruction and says it will work with versions of Exposure from X onwards, including of course EX3.5 Perhaps someone here knows?Īlso, not sure if this article in the support section at AS will help but it deals with moving from LR to Exposure. What I'm not sure is where the keyword sets are stored. Once inside EX3 you can then make changes to keywords and make sets of keywords as well. So if I'm reading the explanation correctly once you have "Saved Metadata to File" in LR EX3 will automatically read the metadata, including your keywords. Exposure saves edits in a sidecar file in the Alien Skin folder that is in the same folder as your image. ![]() So it looks like you would have to start the process in LR as above. Either way, Exposure can read keywords from there." For other files, the metadata will be written into the original file. For RAW files, the metadata will be written into a sidecar file in the same folder as the original file. In Lightroom, under the Metadata menu, you'll see 'Save Metadata to File. So the trick is to get the keywords somewhere that Exposure can read them. Exposure does not extract keywords from the LR catalog. "The tricky thing is that LR usually stores keywords in its catalog. not sure if this answer I received helps or not but here goes: This resembles a question I had on the FB group last fall. Looking forward to sharing tips on Exposure X3 with other users here.Ĭlick to expand.Hi Alberto. I will also try to post any updates to EX3 in the 2nd post. In the second post I will try to keep track of tips and make links to them as they are posted. ![]() If you are interested in another thread that compares EX3 vs ON1 as an LR alternative check out this thread, but please post your comparatives to other programs there and not here. If you are interested in testing it out you can get a free 30 day fully functional trial at Alien Skin The thread is intended as a help thread for users of the current version, not for someone who may have read about or stop using it years ago.Īs of this time EX3 is at version 3.5. Please don't threadjack here by promoting other apps or trashing the program. using the 30 day trial version of EX3 and hoping to make an informed decision on whether to forge ahead with EX3.using EX3 as a standalone or plugin with other photo editing apps (ie LR).This thread is about Alien Skin's photo editing app Exposure X3 and is intended for those who are either currently:
